Val Venosta, Trentino Alto-Adige
Since 1939, the Schuster bakery has been producing the finest bread and other baked goods in the heart of the Upper Vinschgau. Running the bakery in Laudes are the three master bakers Peter, Pius and Franz Schuster, all in the third or fourth generation. The collaboration of two generations of bakers is a guarantee to pass on tradition with an innovative spirit. In addition to great skill, great love of work and first-class raw materials, the Vinschgau Valley itself is perhaps the most significant ingredient for Schuster baked goods. Vinschgau bread is made exclusively by hand and partly with 100% Vinschgau rye. Even fenugreek is grown in-house. A speciality is Pala pear bread, a traditional rye bread with pieces of an old Vinschgau pear variety. The bakers in Laudes also have a talent for baking: their irresistible biscuits are ideal for snacks, especially Christmas snacks, while their juicy fruity strudels are known far beyond the Vinschgau.
